ART: WHO CARES?

ABOUT

Hong Kong’s dominance as an international art capital is undeniable. With the March madness of the Art Month which brings the likes of the biggest and most well-known art fairs, exhibitions and players to our town, the city becomes entrenched in a busy calendar of social events and in mingling with the whos-who of these affairs. But art exists in many different forms, from visual arts to performing arts, from education and learning to activism and self-expression. The strength and culture of an entire nation or civilisation rests upon how rich its art is, and how people utilise and perceive it.

On May 20th, 2017, we will explore the various shapes and forms in which art exists all around us, why it matters, and why we should all care. Unlike our traditional annual full-day event, this 3-hour long session will be a mix of live speakers and pre-recorded TED talks to offer a well-rounded, cross-industry understanding of art in today's world, and will also include performances and poetry from a Peel Street Poet.

WHAT IS A SALON EVENT AND WHY WE LOVE THEM

At a TEDx salon, attendees host a few live speakers, watch TED Talks, and have informal discussions about the talks they witnessed. We love them since due to the smaller audiences and specific themes, salons lead to lively discussions, allowing you to actively participate in the event in a more intimate space, and with more chances to get know and exchange ideas with each other.

We hope you'll join us at our very first salon of the year!
